NASA expects to look for organic life on Jupiter's moon

US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has selected the scientific instruments that will be installed on board the Clipper automatic station for the study of one of the satellites of Jupiter.

Clipper mission involves sending a probe to Europe - the sixth of Jupiter's moons. This object, according to reports, is composed mainly of silicate rocks, and in the center contains an iron core. Scientists believe that a mysterious ice crust may hide oceans with the conditions for the existence of microscopic life.

The launch is scheduled for Clipper 2020s. It is expected that the solar-powered probe will go into orbit around Jupiter with repeated close flybys near Europe. Within three years of research station will have to make 45 encounters with the satellite at a distance from 2700 up to 25 kilometers.

In total, Clipper will be equipped with nine scientific instruments. This will include tools for assessing the thickness of the ice crust and the depth of the oceans, and the single-minded focus wide-angle camera, dual-band radar, complex imaging heat, magnetometer, Particle Analyzer and ultraviolet spectrometer.

The data collected by instruments Clipper, is expected to help in the search for traces of life on Jupiter. In addition, the probe will allow to determine the place of the descent capsule landing in the composition of the next mission.
