One second after the Big Bang

Robert Hogan at King's College in London, suggested that the universe since its inception was not to last for longer than a second .

According to the resulting model, she had to survive the collapse and disappear into nothingness immediately.

Hogan, together with his colleagues presented to the scientific community the results of his new research at the National Astronomy Meeting of the Royal Astronomical Society in Portsmouth June 24th. Scientists combined astronomical observations with the results of the Higgs boson and get amazing results - according to their calculations, the universe had to die as a result of the collapse of about one second after its birth.

According to their calculations, the universe was torn to pieces in the first seconds after the Big Bang because of the appearance of destructive quantum waves, which were to interfere with the adhesion of elementary particles with each other. The researchers presented their findings at the annual meeting of the Royal Astronomical Society of Great Britain, which is taking place this week in Portsmouth, reports vesti.ru.

"It is unacceptable theoretical prediction: if this happened, we would not have, and we would not have to debate about this issue. It is possible that the observations BICEP2 contain errors. If it is not, then there must be is not yet known to us the process that prevented the universe self-destruct. But if physicists from BICEP2 be able to prove the truth of the results of observations, we can say that there is a new particle physics located beyond the Standard Model "- said Robert Hogan at King's College London, who presented the results of the simulation at the conference.

He and his colleague Malcolm Fairbairn checked, as the two most important cosmological discoveries of the last five years - the discovery of the Higgs boson and gravitational waves - fit the generally accepted version of how the big bang and how the universe expanded in the early stages of his life.

Project staff BICEP2 reported in March 2014 that they have discovered one of the most important theoretically predicted effects - gravitational waves left over from the time of the Big Bang. Despite the fact that these results have not been confirmed, they can become a long-awaited proof of the correctness of the theory of inflation.

In the new study, Hogan and his colleagues dealt with the project data BICEP2. To complete the picture, they combined the results of observation of gravitational waves with the latest achievements in the field of elementary particle physics. In doing so, they helped colleagues study aimed at exploring the nature of the Higgs boson.

The measurements of the quantum properties of the Higgs field possible to prove that all Vslennnaya is located in the so-called "valley" of the field, and because of that everyone else has a mass of particles. However, hypothetically, there is another "valley" of the Higgs field, but our universe it misses with a powerful energy barrier.

The reason for "Big Rip", explain the authors of the report were Higgs bosons and the Higgs field generating them, the properties of which in an unusual way affected by changes in the nature of gravitational waves, proposed by physicists from BICEP2. Strengthening of gravitational waves led to the fact that the energy ceiling Higgs field has grown dramatically and has reached values dangerously close to so-called "grand unified energy" - 10 billion petaelectronvolt (SEW). The particles of matter can not exist in an environment that has such energy.

Hogan and Fairbairn explain that this fact would not be a death sentence for the universe, if it concerned field and Higgs bosons. The Higgs field is unstable at energies above 10 billion GeV (GeV), and more susceptible to "pilling" a dangerous energy minimum at which even the vacuum is unstable. As a result, there will be a strongly quantum fluctuations that do not allow the future of matter particles acquire mass peace, and for the existence of which corresponds to the "God particle." Due to this the life of the Universe will end in a "Big Rip" or whether it will go into an endless cycle of bombings and explosions.

The simplest and most obvious explanation why this did not happen - the results of collaborations BICEP2 wrong. This statement appeared in recent weeks many supporters, but the report still admit that the calculations BICEP2 may be true. In his article published in the journal Physical Review Letters, they put forward two possible ways to prevent the death of the universe, said "Russian planet."

In the first case, the universe could save the direct effect of its expansion on the physical properties of the Higgs field. In other words, the mass of the Higgs boson and other parameters of the field through the moments after the birth of the universe different from today. In the second scenario, the world could survive thanks to allocate during the expansion of large amounts of heat: this would slow down the process and reduce the chances of the emergence of "Big Rip". According to Hogan, and Fairbairn, in fact, and in another case, to explain the birth of the universe scientists will have to develop a new elementary particle physics.

Cosmologists, meanwhile, believe that in the calculation of project staff BICEP2 must be a mistake. But if not, then in the history of space-time must flow a mysterious process that stopped the inevitable destruction of the universe, and who knows how something affects the life of the cosmos today.
